Making 108 suryanamaskar a habit

I started hitting the gym regularly for 3 months and boom! Lockdown!

For the Next week, I made sure not to eat unhealthy food, so I didn’t gain any weight, However, I missed the feeling of Workout! You know, the one where you can literally feel your muscles burn? That feeling gives you some satisfaction of achievement.

I have a treadmill at home, however that felt boring. I could not make Zumba a regular thing in the past because dancing depends on your mood. This is when it hit me — I could just do 108 suryanamaskars everyday!

But then I was super doubtful on whether I could actually do it. So the first day was a trial for me. I went upto 30 easily… and then reached 50! and then a 70! and then 108!…. I did it… I completed 108 suryanamaskars on day 1 itself. Surprisingly no body pain… That was weird, but the workout satisfaction I craved for was found! But it took me more than 2 hours!

The next day I had a full body pain and still did the routine. However on day 2 I did only 50 rounds of it.. I had body pain on day 2 as well.. From day 3 — nothing! No body pain No discomfort! My friend who was my gym partner as well said, “I am not surprised. You workout like crazy”

It has been 30 days. But I had followed this only for 15 days max :( This is because I will do it for 2 days and 3rd day would be a rest day and then if it is a Sunday it would be a rest day!

These are just excuses. I can see that. I will continue to try to do it everyday so that one day it really becomes a habit.

Me doing this routine has motivated a lot of my friends to start workouts, however small they may be. They even do only 15 minutes a day. But that is another motivation factor for me. The fact that I actually inspired them to do it is something that I am genuinely happy about.

P.S. From after one week, this routine of 108 suryanamaskars take me 1.5 hours a day :)

P.S. I was not on any diet for these 30 days. I ate my hearts content. I didn’t put on weight, nor did I lose weight. From one of Baba Ramdev’s video, I noticed that doing Suryanamaskar everyday made very thin people to gain weight. So I reached a conclusion that Suryanamaskar might fall under the category of strength training and we cannot expect to see weight loss if our diet is not proper.
